self-care after the beach

We recently returned from our beach vacation and every day I've been wishing I was back watching those gorgeous sunsets. I'll post a round up of some of our photos later (right now I can't find my microsd card reader eek). The trip was beautiful and the water is unreal.

It's been awhile since we last visited the beach for this long, and we soaked up every second from sun up until sun down for seven days. That took a big toll on my skin and hair, so when I got home and was sad that vacation was over, I knew I needed to give myself some TLC.

attn grammar police : I know self-care has a hyphen :D

Face: I broke out like crazy with the amount of sunscreen I slathered on every hour, but getting rid of the acne was my main goal when I got home. I used this cleanser (thank goodness for mega size free samples) which has exfoliating acids in it, to help slough off the dead skin. Started back up with my prescription Retin-A (alternative here) and face moisturizer. Also used this facemask. *On vacation I bring samples of this and this along with my favorite serum.

Body: Beginning my daily Piyo workouts again was of course on my list. My skin was also dry as a desert. I usually use coconut oil but needed a heavier duty cream this time. Vanicream's cream worked like a charm. Plus if you don't moisturize those newly exfoliated feet, they'll go quickly back to their old dry selves.

Hair: I have had no problems with my bleached ends in the sun before, but I spent hours in the salt each day too. My poor ends were not happy and I've never fully experienced dry brittle ends until now. Oh well, scheduled my haircut and we can start over - 100% worth it. Until then hair oil and creams will be my best friends.

Nails: My favorite polish right now is this one in "Flashed". Olive and June recently came out with a bunch of stickers that look so amazing - check them out on instagram here .

Diet: We went from little to no carbs to all carbs (which was great). I'll be honest though, I'm excited to get the bloat off soon. I've been loving making green smoothies daily, these have become my favorite part of the day so that was one thing I had to resume immediately.

I'd love to hear your self - care - post - vacation - pick - me - ups!
