So much easier to keep track of all your patient data with these pens. So thin you can't buy them in the stores and they even have Japanese writing on them. Trust me, you won't regret this purchase. Plus all of the colors make it useful to prioritize your patient specific orders and to do lists.
2. Note Book
This is for studying and writing down concepts you missed. Plus it slips easy into your bag or your white coat if you want to study on the go.
I keep this in the front chest pocket of my white coat and use it all the time for writing down rotation specific details. I write down things like what note templates to use, dot phrases, specific ways certain doctors like to treat certain problems, what time rounds are and where, and basically it's a brain dump for specific details I can't remember on every rotation.
I've mentioned these before (this post) but they are a necessity. This brand is so comfortable and durable.
Your phone battery will run out if you are constantly on it texting fellows, staff, residents, or nursing staff using PerfectServe. Plus all those study question apps ;) . This has already been valuable to me at work!
6. Snacks
Stock up ahead of time. I make my own granola bars and have those ready at all times (recipe here), but these bars are popular and healthy too!
7. Eye Cream
Less sleep at night and weird schedules calls for some undereye help. I started this cream halfway through last month and it's done wonders, I honestly haven't looked better under my eyes than when I actually did get more sleep.
8. Dry Shampoo
I mean, we all need dry shampoo but it's even more useful in the hospital working long shifts. Sometimes I sneak a run in on call so I keep a mini version in my bag!
