The longer we social distance, the more boring it will be. However, it's still important to keep that curve flat and protect yourself and your community from COVID-19. Stay inside and social distance! We can do it! (well not me, because I have to work, but you get the point).
That being said, I compiled a list of things to occupy you during this weird time.
1. TV Series
A few we've been enjoying....
- Little Fires Everywhere on Hulu
- Love is Blind on Netflix
- Tiger King on Netflix
- Friends ... this show gets me through my toughest times.
2. Exercise daily
- So many at home workouts online!
- I've been waking up super early to run on the community apartment treadmill (after I've sanitized it completely)
3. Read
- I use the Libby App through my local library to check out and read digital books.
- Scribd offers free 30 day membership to read or listen to a ton of books digitally! This is a great way to read that book that's been on your list!
Some Scribd.com recs:
The Glass Castle Hillbilly Elegy The Art of Racing in the Rain In Five Years Life of Pi Tattooist of Auschwitz The Alice Network The Institute Handmaid's Tale An American Marriage A Woman is No Man
Psychological Thriller/mystery Genre: The Last Mrs. Parrish **** The Woman in Cabin Ten Then she was Gone The Silent Patient
- I started a virtual book club on instagram called @justreadbookclub , this month's pick is In Five Years (free on Scribd.com)
- Other book recommendations and reviews here
4. Board Games
Most board games require at least one other person, and even playing with two people requires some creativity sometimes. But with Facetime, I'm sure there's still a way to be creative and play even if you are stuck home alone.
- Think Fast was one game I had my eye on, hope to get it next week!
- Friends Trivia has been fun for us
5. Cook
Anyone else feel like they have gained 15 pounds the last few weeks? We've had homemade guacamole every single night!
Go through your cookbooks while you are bored and pick out a new recipe.
Or make something that takes a long time but tastes amazing, like this bolognese recipe over pappardelle! (Video with that recipe here)
6. Puzzles
- Gray Malin makes gorgeous reversible puzzles, of course the best one is sold out, but this winter version and this beach one look beautiful!
- These Sticker Puzzle books are easy clean up, and will keep you occupied for hours.
7. Painting
Create a new masterpiece. I ordered some supplies and will be starting this project next week! (Well, hopefully, depends on my work schedule!)
8. Cookie Decorating
Everything I learned about decorating sugar cookies I learned from this youtube channel. My favorite sugar cookie recipe is here. but I use this icing recipe ! You don't need fancy tips (most of the time I use ziploc bags with a tiny hole cut in the side). Need some inspiration? Get on pinterest or check out some of my past projects here. Tag me if you make something!! I'd love to see!
9. Knitting
What better time to learn a new hobby? Knitting can be learned easy online and for free! I love knitting, I wish I had more time to do it! Start with a potholder, baby blanket, or a scarf.
10. Donate Items
Go full KonMari method on your home and make piles of all the things in your home you don't need! Start with your bathroom beauty items, move on to your kitchen, and then tackle that closet!
