TO DO Be Grateful. I realize this sounds cheesy, but it changes your days when you can think of one thing you’re grateful for in the morning and one thing each evening. If that’s too much to remember try thinking of something just once every morning. Ideally, I’d write it down in the morning and evening but even just thinking about it on the way to work puts me in a good mindset to start my day. Try it this month, you’ll see! PS this planner helps keep you on track daily with this! TO SEE American Housewife This show is a few years old, but for the last few years it has been a good laugh every week. A middle class family rents a home in a wealthy neighborhood and they have to navigate raising their kids with the values they want for their kids, along with navigating the drama that comes the parents’ way from people their age in the community. TO TRY A Boar Bristle Hairbrush There’s a reason this hairbrush sells for almost $200 (ps there are a lot of cheaper versions!!) A boar bristle brush will lengthen the time in between shampoos by pulling the oils down your hair (I don’t wash my hair often, see how in this post). Thus, it also makes your hair shiny and healthy down throughout the hair. These brushes also pull product down away from your scalp so built up dry shampoo/root lifter/hairspray/whatever is not all clogged up at the scalp. They also claim that by massaging your scalp and stimulating blood flow that they enhance hair growth. These brushes are supposed to last a lifetime as well. A real boar bristle brush should not cause static. So when you buy look for no synthetic or synthetic mixes and be sure it says “100% boar bristle”, the synthetic pieces can make you have static electricity. The best affordable dupe I've found from others is here . Plus this boar bristle teasing brush I use every day. TO READ The Last Mrs. Parrish I read this book on my cell phone one loooong day at work during my breaks. It was so addicting I couldn’t stop. It’s about a woman who is trying to steal a wealthy family’s husband but everything is not what it appears on the outside and you question who you can and can’t trust. I loved it! TO MAKE A capsule wardrobe. I’ll work on a post about this as I’m still in the experimental stages. But the basic idea is downsizing your closet to a collection of a few essential items of clothing that never go out of style and that can be mixed in with seasonal items. For me, I wear scrubs every day at work and then find myself gravitating to the same clothes when I go out or the same loungewear if I’m staying in comfy. This post is a similar concept where I mixed and matched all of my clothes for the fall season. Still working on this, but I encourage you to look at your own closet and see what you wear the most often and what pieces are classics that will be worn for years to come. TO TASTE Homemade pizza We have had amazing pizza in Italy and in NYC (and Dante’s in Omaha!). A pizza oven would be ideal, but if you are making pizza at home you still can make a great pie! TIPS: —Since there are so few ingredients a huge requirement is to make sure your ingredients are quality and tasty. —Spring for the higher quality sauce and season with fresh basil. —Add a flavorful cheese like fresh mozzarella or my favorite, burrata. (Add it on the last 2-3 min of baking) —Brush your dough with imported olive oil then fresh garlic and red pepper and bake a few minutes first, then add your sauce and toppings.
